DIRECTOR

INSIDE THE FBI | 2 x 50’ | October Films / Nat Geo / Disney+

Through new interviews, archive and drama, this series will explore how this once proud law enforcement agency had to rebuild itself and its reputation under the onslaught of relentless crimes – the truths they uncover have shocking legacies that still reverberate throughout the U.S. to this day.

LOST CITIES WITH ALBERT LIN | 1 x 50’ | Raw TV / Nat Geo / Disney+

Writing and directing 1 x 50-minute episode, I am drawing on my skills in factual docs, CGI and shooting in extreme conditions to create a high-octane, stunt-filled, presenter-led adventure series that has history and storytelling at its heart.

COLOSSEUM | 2 x 60’ | October Films / History Channel

A premium 8-part drama-documentary series which vividly brings to life the rise and fall of the Roman Empire through the lens of one of the most brutal arenas in the history of humanity - the Colosseum. From writing through to delivery, I was able to draw upon my storytelling skills, and my knowledge of CGI and VFX to craft complex and challenging films that brought the era to life.

SECRETS OF THE SOLAR SYSTEM | 3 x 60’ | Bigger Bang Productions

Using archive, filmed actuality, and first-person testimony, this series tells the story of the remarkable missions sent to explore the outer reaches of the solar system and the people behind them. I have written, directed, filmed, and edited 3 episodes of this acclaimed series.

My Mars episode was nominated for a 2021 EMMY award in the ‘Outstanding Science and Technology Documentary’ category.

REVOLUTIONS | 6 x 60’ | Bigger Bang Productions | PBS / BBC

As Series Drama Director I created a technique that allowed this 2019 series to depict historical events in an exciting new way. From the ancient deserts of Baghdad, Leonardo Da Vinci, through to the modern age - you’ve never quite seen them like this before. As well as scripting, shooting, and designing the drama for the series, I also took the lead as GFX artist.

NO MAN LEFT BEHIND | 2 x 50’ | Raw TV | National Geographic

Stranded in enemy territory, hunted by hostile forces. And yet they made it back home. This visceral series for National Geographic fused gripping personal testimony and high-octane dramatisations with haunting present-day actuality of real-life war heroes. I significantly contributed to the series format, wrote scripts, interviewed contributors, directed and shot actuality, directed drama shoots, and co-edited 2 episodes of this new series including the premiere.

CHALLENGE THE DESERT | 1 x 50’ | Arrow Media | National Geographic

I directed, shot and edited this one-off doc following the Honda motorcycle team as they took on the immense ‘Dakar’; the most difficult rally in the world. Filming in South America in extreme conditions we tell an intensely exciting, dramatic and ultimately human story of their valiant but unsuccessful attempt to tame the desert.

ULTIMATE WARFARE: THUNDER RUN | 2 x 50’ | Arrow Media | Discovery

I conducted interviews with US generals, scripted, storyboarded, directed, and collaborated closely with the GFX house to produce 2 episodes of this epic drama doc. Receiving correspondence from the soldiers proclaiming the film to be the “first to have captured the battle in its truest form” is amongst the highest praise I have ever received.

AYN Al SHAHEEN FILMS – CREATIVE DIRECTOR

I joined Qatar’s foremost independent production company and was made creative director a short time after. From directing huge multi-camera shoots (using Phantoms, helicopters, Cineflex, car-mounted time-lapse rigs, and underwater photography) to intimately-shot portraits of the local culture, I applied my creativity to a wide variety of high-profile programming
